Anwar Ali & Dave Owen - Mchanga Mweupe - CD EP

The ‘Mchanga Mweupe’ EP is the first collaborative release by Anwar Ali & Dave Owen.  Steeped in Swahili and East African musical heritage, and underpinned by a British folk sensibility, Dave’s acoustic guitar complements Anwar’s oud, with the artists' shared passion and intensity producing a haunting and emotive sound.

The five tracks were recorded in Liverpool by Natham Kirkham, and was orignally released to coincide with Anwar & Dave's appearance at the 25th Anniversary Africa Oye Festival; the largest celebration of African music and culture in the UK in 2017.

The original 2017 issue, limited to just 100 signed and numbered copies, sold out quickly and a second edition was released in February 2019.
